The Greek community of Australia showed its generosity to the three children of Eric and Vicky Charalambous. The death of Vicky from cancer at 48 years of age and Eric, eight months later, at the age of 53, orphaned the couple’s three children: 17-year-old Angelique, 13-year-old Connor and 11-year-old Riahna.

The sister of Vicky, Susie Angelakas, took over the custody of the children and started a GoFundMe page to help her deal with the immediate expenses required.

The initial goal was to raise $5,000 for the children, however more than $35,000 was raised after an article in Neos Kosmos.

The story moved people who wanted to ensure that the three children had all that they needed.

“We can’t thank you all enough for all the generosity and support we have received. Means the world to us all. Stay safe and enjoy times with your family and loved ones as life is short. Be kind to one another and enjoy each and every day. Thank you all so very much,” Ms Angelakas wrote.
