The Greek authorities confirmed 254 new cases of coronavirus on Friday and two deaths. Twenty incidents were located during checks at the country’s entrance gates, 98 in the Attica region, which includes Athens, and 76 in Thessaloniki.

The National Health Organisation said the total number of incidents since the outbreak of the pandemic in Greece is 6,632, (55 per cent of these are men).

From the total number of incidents, 24 per cent are related to overseas travel, 3,207 are related to already known cases and the rest are from unknown sources.

Friday’s two deaths lifts the total number of COVID-19-related deaths in Greece to 223 people since the start of the pandemic. The average age of the fatalities is 77 years, and the number of patients currently intubated at hospitals is 22 (68.2 per cent of them are men).
