The Youth Committee of the Federation of Pontian Associations of Australia are inviting film makers of Pontian heritage around the world to submit their films for the inaugural International Pontian Film Festival (IPFF).

The Australian youth committee initiated the idea for the festival and has received support from in the US, Canada, Europe, Russia as well as the World Pontian Youth Coordinating Committee.

The aim of the festival is to showcase, through short- to long-length films, the rich culture of the Greeks of Pontos.

“ If you or someone you know have created a film for our Pontian-Greek heritage and culture or are in the process of making one or want to make one, we encourage everyone to submit your creation to the “International Pontian Film Festival”, said the Australian federation’s press release announcing the festival.

The film submissions for the festival must be between 10 and 45 minutes long and the themes must refer to Pontian culture and heritage.

An online festival submission link will be open from 2 September to 27 November on the Australian federation’s Facebook site. This link will contain relevant information about the festival and the criteria for selection. The site will be constantly updated with new information.

The Federation of Pontian Associations of Australia includes associations from Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, Wollongong and Canberra. It is one of the largest Greek national bodies in Australia.
