A video on Twitter is doing the rounds showing a ferry leaving the island of Kastellorizo to the sound of Greek soldiers at the end of their deployment to the island singing the national anthem on board the departing vessel. Themanews.com reported that the soldiers were being replaced with a new intake of soldiers.

The eastern Aegean island of Kastellorizo is at the centre of the latest crisis between Greece and Turkey. Ankara has accused Greece of sending troops to the island in response to its sending a research vessel, the Oruc Reis, to survey the waters of the coast for oil and gas reserves. The Turkish vessel has been escorted by two support research vessels as well as a number of Turkish navy vessels.

The Turks have warned against Greek intentions to increase the size of the army garrison on the island.
