Greek-Australian tennis bad boy Nick Kyrgios was quick to make light of the situation after Serbian tennis star Novak Djokovic was disqualified from the US Open.

Mr Djokovic, the top seed n the world of tennis, lost to Pablo Carreno Busta and was sent packing after accidentally hitting a lineswoman in the throat following a ball he hit in frustrations. She fell to her knees and reached for her neck.

After a short discussion Mr Djokovic was eliminated from the US Open.

Following the incident the Greek-Australian player took to social media and asked his 400,000 followers: “Accidentally hitting the ball kid in the throat, how many years would I be banned for?”

Fans had the option of answering five, 10 or 20 years.
