Greece registered 169 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, including 15 identified at entry points to the country.

A lot of the concern is centred around Moria, where the overcrowded migrant and refugee reception and identification camp is located on the island of Lesbos. There have been 35 cases detected so far. There were 2,000 samples gathered by the government’s health teams from 3-5 September and another 100 from the centre’s employees. The staff have so far all tested negative.

The decision for extensive testing at the camp was made after a 40-year-old Somali asylum seeker who lived at the camp tested positive last Wednesday. Since then, the camp has been in lockdown.
