Victoria’s new COVID-19 cases dipped to 21 on Saturday. This brings the 14-day case average to beneath 39.3, the first time it has been beneath 40.

There needs to be an average of 30-50 cases for restrictions to begin to wind back on 28 September.

There were seven deaths recorded.

There are currently 64 cases from an unknown source in Melbourne and zero such cases in regional Victoria, where the 14-day average is at 1.9.

Melburnians are desperate for a holiday after months of lockdown with checkpoints inundated with people.

Relaxed restrictions mean that people in regional areas are free to travel around Victoria.

In Melbourne there have been cases located at various areas, and people who have travelled to the following places are urged to get tested:

  • Westfield Fountain Gate shopping centre in Narre Warren has been linked to a virus cluster with 30 cases (between 18 August and 6 September);
  • Chemist Warehouse, Brunswick (on 11 September)
  • Burwood One Shopping Centre (between 13-14 September)
  • Provans Mitre 10, Clifton Hill (on 10 September)
  • Craigieburn Shopping Centre (on 11 September)
  • “The Glen” Woolworths, Glen Waverley (on 6 September)
  • Greenvales LakesWoolworths (on 6 September)
  • Coles Roxburgh Park (on 6 September and 10 September)
  • Freshplus Roxburgh Park (on 10 September)
  • KFC Westgate, Port Melbourne (on 11 September and 12 September).
