AEK fought through the rain and qualified for the Europa League play-offs, beating St Gallen 1-0 at Switzerland’s Kybun Park.

The only goal was scored after a quiet 71 minutes by forward Nelson Oliveira, securing the Greek team’s spot in the playoff against Wolfsburg, next Thursday 1 October.

Albeit the slow start, AEK manage to keep the score at 1-0 until the end, however that does not negate the fact that the appearance was indulgently mediocre and the team will definitely have to present a much improved front against Wolfsburg in order to hope for qualification.

The star of the game was goalkeeper Panayiotis Tsintotas, who was pivotal in helping the team avoid their demise especially during the first half and even averted an own goal crisis set up by Emanuel Insua.

It seems AEK are making their late warm up tradition, scoring 2-0 against Panetolikos in the Greek Super League again all in the second half.

You can watch AEK’s next Super League game in Australia on Monday at 3:30am AEST.
