Greece’s health authorities announced on Saturday a daily record of 13 deaths from Covid-19, along with 280 new confirmed cases.
At the same time, the country’s death toll due to coronavirus hit 500, with 10 more patients passing since Friday.
Of the new cases recorded on Saturday, 20 were detected among tourists while the wider Attica area sits at the top of the most Covid-active spots with 207 new cases.

Authorities pointed to violations in social distancing in bars and outdoor parties and added that the danger of transmission will only increase in cooler weather. Asked about a return to pre-pandemic normality, an epidemiologist advising the Health Ministry said that “an improvement in our daily lives” will take place only 7-8 months after the introduction of a vaccine, if it proves effective.
New restrictions on the number of people allowed inside restaurants, museums and archaeological site are being imposed on Monday in Athens and several regions around Greece where the incidence of new cases is considered particularly high.
