Victoria recorded four new cases of COVID-19 and the death of a man in his 90s – related to an aged care outbreak –  in the past day.

There are now 15 cases with an unknown source in Melbourne and zero in regional Victoria wit 136 active cases in the state, including 11 healthcare workers.

The numbers are an added comfort as Melburnians begin to enjoy more freedoms and are now able to travel 25 kilometers from their homes from the five kilometer limit. Furthermore, up to 10 people from two households will now be able to gather outdoors while hairdressers, golf courses and tennis courts also reopen.

Retail stores will still remain shut as will dining for restaurants, cafes and pubs which will open on 2 November.

Victoria’s Premier Daniel Andrews said that businesses may reopen sooner if numbers remain low.

The state’s officials have asked for the Australian Border Force to work towards the prevention of last week’s incident where up to 55 travellers from New Zealand entered Melbourne on Friday.
