Avid fans of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will recall the first announcement about their non-profit in April.

As of this week, Harry and Meghan, have taken a step closer to the realisation of their venture, with the launch of Archwell’s website bringing once again on the spotlight their Greek source of inspiration for its name.

Website visitors are directed to a minimalist landing page, featuring an explainer of the name’s origin and an invitation for followers to subscribe to email updates.

The breakdown explainer reads:

Arche (/rki/; Ancient Greek: ): (n.)Greek word meaning “source of action”
Well (/wel/): (n.)a plentiful source or supply; a place we go to dig deep

The “revelation” on the Greek component of the word has made headlines in recent days, but it was around six months ago that the couple first explained the choice, following their stepping down as senior royals, which also led to the replacement of the Sussex Royal brand for the foundation.

Back then, they had even made public that their son’s name, Archie, had its origins in the same Greek word.

“Before SussexRoyal, came the idea of ‘Arche’—the Greek word meaning ‘source of action.’ We connected to this concept for the charitable organization we hoped to build one day, and it became the inspiration for our son’s name,” Prince Harry and Meghan Markle revealed in a statement in April.

Archewell, they said, “combines an ancient word for strength and action, and another that evokes the deep resources we each must draw upon”, with the name deemed suitable to express their vision for the foundation “to do something of meaning, to do something that matters.”
