Victoria has recorded its first coronavrius death in more than a month following 31 consecutive days of zero cases.

Health authorities today confirmed that an elderly woman, aged in her 70s, died from complications related to COVID-19 despite having previously been cleared of the virus.

The woman was one of a group of cases diagnosed in late July and was cleared as an active case in late September.

Though she died after having being cleared of COVID-19, her death was deemed to be COVID-related because she had never physically recovered from the illness.

The woman’s death is the first coronavirus-related death since two deaths announced on 28 October.

The state’s death toll is now at 820.
