Filming of the Greek Australian feature film (and soon to follow drama series), Dream of a Shadow, has continued in Greece, with some of the major names of Greek show-business joining the cast.
With well-known Marina Leontaris taking the director and co-producer chair, the movie cast has recently been strengthened with names like Vassilis Paleologos and Dinos Karidis, both notable Greek actors.
Early last week, Greek magazines broke the news as Maria Louisa Vouros, famous model and TV presenter, joined the Dream of a Shadow cast, in what will be her acting debut.
Accepting the invitation to join the Greek Australian cast, Ms Vouros will follow in the footsteps of her father, famous Greek actor Yiannis Vouros.
Dream of a Shadow (ΣΚΙΑΣ ΟΝΑΡ) tells the story of Spiros, one of the many new migrants from Greece who seek a better life in Australia. He is armed only with his irresistible charm and with a new dream. But dreams, he will soon find out, often come with a great cost.
The feature film aims at promoting the difficulties Greek people have to deal with when moving to another country, as well as deleting from other people’s memory some inflammatory characterisations of Greeks.
Created and written by Nikita Ballas and Spiros Cheliotis, the film is set in Melbourne and Athens. With the shooting expected to be completed in July in Melbourne, plans are underway for Dream of a Shadow to be distributed to Europe, the USA and Australia.
