Victoria noted its 12th day with zero locally transmitted cases of COVID-19.

Two staffers at a Melbourne quarantine hotel have tested positive to coronavirus.

They are understood to be a nurse and a police officer who have been working at Holiday Inn on Flinders.

The situation is worrying as hundreds of tennis players and staff are flying into the city for the Australian Open set to kick off on 8 February.

Victorian residents stranded in the Greater Sydney area will be able to return to their homes from 6pm tonight after parts of the region, including the Blue Mountains and Wollongong, were downgraded from a “red” to “orange” risk.

Two staff members, possibly a nurse and a police officer, understood to have been working at Holiday Inn on Flinders Street, Melbourne, have tested positive to COVID-19.

Victoria’s Premier Dan Andrews said that anyone with a pending exemption application from Sydney red zones would not need to reapply in order to enter.
