The Greek Orthodox Community of St. George, Brisbane, invites you to a lecture to mark the 150 anniversary of the birth of the great modern poet C. P. (Constantine) Cavafy.

The lecture C.P. Cavafy: Alexandria and Hellenism will explore how Cavafy developed a unique relationship with Alexandria, the city he spent the greatest part of his life and examine Cavafy’s alternate views on Hellenism.

The lecture will be given by Dr. Anthony Dracopoulos, a Senior Lecturer with the Department of Modern Greek at the University of Sydney, where he teaches Modern Greek and Comparative Literature.

He has published extensively on Greek Modernism, George Seferis and C.P. Cavafy.
