The famous Hellenic precinct in Oakleigh was packed last night, as Greeks and philhellenes got together to celebrate the last few hours, before Victoria went into its third hard lockdown in less than a year.
Before the clock struck midnight, and before everything went back to the earie silence of a time in lockdown that Victorians are very familiar with, Eaton Mall amongst other places across the state, filled with crowds that rushed out to enjoy a summer night with friends, when they were suddenly informed that in a few hours and for five days, they would only be allowed to go out of their homes for four reasons.
Here are some pictures that Dora Houpis captured in Oakleigh, from 7pm and until a quarter to midnight when the police arrived, to remind the crowds, that it was time to go home.
