Anthony Maras’ multi-award winning documentary The Palace is one of three Cypriot movies showcased at the Hellenic Club in Canberra.

The Palace follows the true story of a Cypriot family fleeing advancing Turkish forces by taking refuge in an abandoned Ottoman-era palace.

Also showing on the same day is The March of the Missing by Michael Kazan and Emmanuel Stefanou & Associates and is the inspiration of the photographic exhibition at the Hellenic Club.

The third movie is a contemporary Cypriot film, Fish ‘n’ Chips by director Elias Demetriou.

The 2011 film follows a Cypriot immigrant in London who goes back to Cyprus and finds things aren’t as expected.

The movies are part of the Hellenic Club’s Sunday Afternoon at the Greek Movies event, and start tomorrow at 3.00 pm at the Aegean Room, Matilda Street, Woden, ACT.
