Three is the magic number for Olympiacos as it is the amount of games the team needs to win to retain its Super League crown.

The Reds are on the path to a seemingly smooth championship victory after beating second-placed Aris over the weekend, shaking off their elimination from the Europa League.

Most of the action unfolded in the first half as midfielder Giorgos Masouras swept in to give Olympiacos its lead 38 minutes in, thanks to an assist by teammate Andreas Bouchalakis.

Olympiacos was still able to retain its lead for the rest of the despite being a man down a mere three minutes after their goal, before Kenny Lala was sent off with a red card.

Pedro Martins’ front currently sits atop the standings with a 19-point lead in front of second place Aris.

PAOK has jumped up to third place on the board, surpassing AEK after beating it with a spectacular 3-1 home victory.

Midfielder Andrija Živković was PAOK’s man of the hour. The young Serb scored the opening goal of the match within the first four minutes. AEK seemed to gain some momentum back in first half overtime as Nélson Oliveira equalised the score.

Panathinaikos had the rug ripped out from under its feet in the last minutes of the match against Asteras Tripolis, ending on 2-2.

The Athenians led the game with two goals up until the 83rd minute thanks to star forward Federico Macheda, who scored both within a minute of each other early in the second half.

Asteras forward Luis Fernandez and keeper Nikos Papadopoulos gave the team some hope, snatching a goal in the 84th minute, before Papadopoulos came back for more, moving up to the Greens’ box in the seventh minute of overtime, slotting the ball in.

Asteras currently sit at the bottom of the top six teams, only three points behind Panathinaikos.

The next play off matches will take place in two weeks’ time.
