Playing with an interim coach, Veria earned a surprise 1-1 draw at Panathinaikos in the Greek league last Saturday.

Veria coach Goran Stevanovic resigned on Tuesday, less than three months after taking over, accusing the club owners of acquiring players without consulting with him. Youth team coach Stefanos Gaitanos has taken up head coaching duties while a search for a replacement is on.

The team now stand joint third with Ergotelis, a point behind Kalloni and defending champion Olympiakos.

Olympiakos continued its winning streak, beating out Levadiakos with a phenomenal 5-0. Greece striker Costas Mitroglou enjoyed his first career hat-trick, scoring three times in the last 20 minutes, while former Argentine international Javier Saviola opened the scoring and Vladimir Weiss adding one more for the Reds.

PAOK also scored an emphatic win on Sunday, beating Panionios 4-1 at home to rise up the ladder.

Asteras Tripolis scored its first win, downing Apollon 2-0 at home, while Panthrakikos saw off visiting Panetolikos 2-1. Atromitos also beat Aris 2-0 to leave the popular Thessaloniki club at the bottom of the ladder with no points after three games, and OFI Crete shared a goalless draw in the Cretan derby with Platanias Hanion at Iraklio.
