Two villages on the Northern Cyclades island of Andros have been evacuated due to a fire that broke out in Remata according to the fire department.

Fifty five fire fighters that have been dispatched in the are are battling the blaze with 15 vehicles, three firefighting aircraft, two helicopters including ground units, however, strong winds blowing in the area are making it hard to control the fire.

At an order of Deputy Civil Protection, Nikos Chardalias, a unit of the Arson Crimes Directorate will go to the island to investigate the causes of the large fire, the Athens-Macedonian News Agency (ANA) reported on Sunday.
