The target was $200,000, a sum that would help little Lukas Rosenbaum pay for lifesaving radiotheraphy treatment in Texas, USA.
With the help of the Greek Australian community, who were touched by the four-year-old’s story published by Neos Kosmos, that figure now stands at a whopping $245,000.
A cheque for nearly $67,000 was presented to Lukas and his family by the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia on Friday by Bishop Ezekiel. The funds were raised mostly thanks to special collections in Sunday services around the state.
The Bishop also gave Lukas a special blessing and a cross to take with him to America.
Lukas is set to fly on October 7 along with his mother Irene and father Ralf.
