The preparations for the Authentic Marathon Swim continue with an undiminished pace, as the historic event will take place for its second consecutive year, on 2-4 July at Pefki, in Evia, Greece.

The Authentic Marathon Swim held under the auspices of the Greek National Tourism Organisation has invited amateur and professional swimmers from Greece and abroad to visit North Evia again this year to discover the cultural and natural wealth of the region and to become part of history, in the birthplace of marathon swimming.

Participants will swim the impressive 10 kilometre route over the shipwrecks of the Naval Battle of Artemision that took place in 480 BC, along with the 3 kilometre , the 1.5 kilometre and the new 5 kilometre route.

Respectively,  younger fans of the sea will have the opportunity to test their swimming skills in the 800m children’s race.

The event organised by the Municipality of Istiaia-Edipsos and ActiveMedia Group has joined the swimming community of Global Swim Series (GSS).

The Municipality of Istiaia-Edipsos in the fight against social exclusion of vulnerable groups of the population, has also offered all its citizens free access to sports through the Authentic Marathon Swim.

Residents of Istiaia-Edipsos will have the opportunity to take part in the 5 kilometre, 3 kilometre and 1.5 kilometre routes as well as the 800m children’s race, completely free of charge.

A few days are left for the Early Bird prices of the Authentic Marathon Swim’s registration, reaching up to a 33% discount ending on 30 April.
