Delphi Bank has upped its sponsorship of the Greek Film Festival this year, securing exclusive naming rights to the event.
The Bank has been in partnership with the festival for over five years, and just signed a “multi-year agreement” for the rights.
Delphi Bank CEO, George Tacticos says the Bank is using the naming rights to better promote their new name and introduce the new branding to the wider Greek Australian community.
“For us this is a way we can communicate to the community – whether they are customers or not – that Delphi Bank may have changed name, but we really are still here and committed to being a part of our vibrant Hellenic community,” he tells Neos Kosmos.
“Events like the Delphi Bank Greek Film Festival only make our ties stronger.”
The bank severed ties with its old name, the Bank of Cyprus, in November 2012, and has been slowly rebranding its branches throughout the year.
The bank has contributed more funding to this year’s Festival than ever before, and the deal makes up a large portion of its sponsorship portfolio.
As well as sponsoring the film festival, Delphi Bank also funds the Lonsdale Street Festival, the Sydney Greek Festival, Adelaide’s Glendi, the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese Christmas Carols (Kalanta), the ‘Blessing of the Waters’ and the Cyprus Wine Festival.
It also has ties with grassroots sporting teams, funding many clubs around the country while keeping its commitment to its corporate friends, like the Hellenic Museum and the Hellenic Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
For a Bank, being associated with entrepreneurial endeavours like independent films is a good way to reach out to the community and create a new customer base.
“Film is an important part of our heritage and culture,” Mr Tacticos says.
“It is celebrated globally and in Australia, film festivals are much anticipated and have become cemented within the cultural calendar nationally.
“It is a privilege to be part of this celebration.”
The Bank’s 14 branches across Australia will be giving out the Film Festival’s program to customers as well as promoting the festival dates for each state.
The Delphi Bank 20th Greek Film Festival will start in Brisbane on October 31 till November 3, Sydney will follow from November 6 and Melbourne on November 7 until November 24. The festival concludes with Adelaide, from November 14 till November 17.
