Football Victoria (FV) has made the historic decision to appoint its first ever female president in 137 years.

Antonella Care was elected for presidency unopposed at the organisation’s annual general meeting at the Darebin International Sports Centre.

Ms Care will serve a two year term after being a FV Board Member since March 2016. FV has the utmost trust in the new president after working as a highly qualified professional who prides herself on having a strong understanding of governance and positive working relationships with many Local Government departments.

Jo Bladen, Yianni Zaparas and Steve Forbes were also elected as directors and will serve four year terms.

Following the electoral results, CEO Kimon Taliadoros addressed presented his 2020 report and outlined the organisation’s key strategic goals for 2021 and 2022.

Senior Executive Manager of Business Operations Matthew Green, provided a financial summary.

Despite a tough year dealing with the impacts of COVID-19, both Mr Taliadoros and Mr Green noted they were optimistic about the future, as restrictions ease allowing the game one field and behind the scenes to return with some stability.
