The news that Alphington Grammar secured its much needed planning approval to build a $3 million multipurpose hall and an additional $2 million for new classes left the  President of the Greek Orthodox Community of Melbourne, Bill Papastergiadis a happy man.

“I am elated, that’s the only way I can describe this feeling,” said Mr Papastergiadis to Neos Kosmos English Edition (NKEE).

He went on to say, “The previous administration had been trying to do that for over 10 years and we did in one year!”

“We are talking about $6 million investment in total . We got $2 million for classes from the Federal Government as part of its Education Revolution funding and the other money is from the Community.”

Mr Papastergiadis believes that they will be ready to begin building in the next two months.

He praised the Alphington subcommittee led by Mr Jim Dolkas “he has worked brilliantly with council and he worked hard and was diligent.”
