Antipodes Festival coordinator Joe Mavrikos, is putting out calls for arts and cultural events and stall holders for Antipodes 2010. Talking to NKEE he said, “The street festival is between 27 and 28 March, and following this year’s success we have another great program.”
He could not confirm but was happy to say that the festival committee is looking to bring in Greek singing star, Kotsiras or Roubas, but as Mavrikos said, “That’s a TBA [sic], we cannot confirm at this point but I can tell you it will be huge.”
One of the new features is a proposed parade, “We want to put on a parade that celebrates the first, second and third generations of Greek Australians, one possibly beginning from Fed Square and ending up on the stage in Lonsdale.”
He dismissed any discussion about the Antipodes Festival moving to Federation Square. “We are staying in Lonsdale St for now and as we have revitalised the festival everyone is keen and excited to see it become a success again.”
Mavrikos emphasised, “We are looking for co-productions and umbrella events between March 1 to March 30, we will provide marketing and support.”
