About 120 students from universities across Melbourne flocked to Latrobe University’s Eagle Bar last Tuesday to celebrate the Latrobe University Greek Club’s (LUGS) first ever Greek night.

DJ Kosta Kay pumped out house, Greek music and old school R&B and one by one, almost everyone made their way onto the dance floor.

“It was great to meet other Greek first year students, the venue was vibrant and LUGS was very welcoming,” said first year LUGS member Nicolette Veis.

“I don’t know how else I would have had the opportunity to socialise with my fellow Greek peers.”

The night was refreshingly warm and friendly, in stark contrast to the typical booze-fuelled O-week nights that one would expect.

Also present was NUGAS Victoria administrative co-ordinator, Kerry Matthews, and club liaison co-ordinator John Nasiakos. LUGS marked Nasiakos’ 20th birthday by breaking out into a ‘happy birthday’ chorus and presenting him with a surprise birthday cake.

“On behalf of the current LUGS committee, I would like to thank all those who attended and made it the memorable night full of kefi,” said LUGS secretary, Natole Jasonides. “Also, a special thanks to our amazing DJ’s Kosta Kay, Aristokraft and Mikey Kay for a job well done!”
