Most children would rather play sport or watch cartoons than stand around polling booths during last Saturday’s state election.
But Katerina and Peter Stylianou had work to do. They braved the rain and cold to campaign with their mother, Sotiria Stratis, the Sex Party candidate in the seat of Bayswater.
“My kids are awesome!! ‘vote for my mum’,” Ms Stratis said on Twitter early on Saturday.
As the day wore on, Ms Stratis tweeted “the kids are starting to go loopy”, but they continued to hand out how-to-vote cards around the electorate, in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs.
With nearly 80 percent of the votes counted, Ms Stratis had won 992 primary votes in the seat, a total of 3.5 percent, but it was the Liberal Party who came out on top.
Liberal candidate Heidi Victoria retained the seat, increasing her margin to 12.5 percent of the primary vote.
