$160,000 will be invested into infrastructure for the South Australian area of Hindmarsh, Minister for Regional Australia, Simon Crean announced today.
The projects that will be funded include the construction of a high-quality retaining wall for the prevention of erosion and sand drift at Mosely Square reserve, Glenelg and installation of outdoor gym equipment and liberty swings at Kings and Rex Jones reserves, Torrensville, Mr Crean said.
This now brings the Government’s total investment in the Regional and Local Community Infrastructure Program to more than $1 billion.
“These new projects will benefit the local community but will also to support jobs in the Hindmarsh electorate,” Mr Crean said.
Federal member for Hindmarsh, Steve Georganas said that through the Australian Government working in partnership with the City of Holdfast Bay and City of West Torrens Council, “we are building a better future for the community”.
“The Program is an example of localism in action, where the Australian Government is listening to communities and helping to deliver what locals want and need,” Mr Georganas said.
This follows from Mr Georganas’ recent election as President of the Australian Labor Party (South Australia Branch) for a term of one year.
Mr Georganas said he was honoured and proud to take the position as President of the South Australian Labor Party.
“This will be a crucial year for the SA Labor branch. The State Labor Government is heading towards its second year of a third term in Government. This period will require the entire Labor party to work in unity in order to have the structures in place that will allow for a successful campaign that takes the party forward, towards a strong showing at the next state election campaign,” Mr Georganas said.
Mr Georganas took over from Peter Malinuskas at the end of the final session of the ALP conference in Adelaide at the Festival centre, last month.
