The two women at the centre of a supposed black magic curse broke down in court while telling a judge the consequences the series of events had on their lives, according to the Sydney Morning Herald.
The women were forced into having sexual intercourse against their will. One woman said she was emotionally and physically scarred while the second said the offenders “chipped away at my soul and broken me down”.
At the sentencing hearing for the offenders, Tony Golossian, Arthur Psichogios and his wife Frances Psichogios, the women read from their victim impact statements in the New South Wales District Court in Sydney. Outside the courtroom, before the sentencing hearing began, two of Golossian’s sons were arrested, as was his wife. Last December, a jury found Golossian, 63, guilty of 24 charges, most of which were for having sexual intercourse without consent.
His friend Arthur Psichogios, 40, was found guilty of 14 similar charges and his 38-year-old wife was found guilty of seven charges, including administering an intoxicating substance with intent to enable sexual assault. The jury heard evidence that the two men used demonic voices, black magic curses, and forced sex during “prayer sessions.”
The women believed the black magic curses caused cancer, reproductive problems and horrific fatal accidents.
The sentencing hearing is continuing before Judge Penelope Hock.
