From Tuesday Laiki Bank Australia will be known as the Beirut Hellenic Bank, after the Bank of Beirut bought a majority share in the company.
The change will come into effect immediately at the bank’s Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney branches.
“The re-brand provides the bank with the opportunity to become a specialist in areas where Hellenics and Lebanese alike excel, such as in small business including food services, transport and in the property investment and development sector,” said CEO and Managing Director James Wakim.
“Our Overseas Relations Service will continue to support the community and act as a bridge connecting our Hellenic and Lebanese customers with their country of origin.”
The new-look bank will also launch an internet-banking platform, available mid-year.
“This phase is the next step on our journey to become the premiere multicultural bank in Australia,” he said.
Beirut Hellenic Bank is investing $420 million into its Australian operations and will be opening five new branches by the end of the year, with the first to open in Parramatta, Sydney in July.
