The woman who blew the whistle on former Labor MP Milton Orkopoulos was awarded $438,000 by the New South Wales Supreme Court.
Gillian Sneddon received the compensation for being bullied and victimised at Orkopoulos’ electorate office after she began to help police in an investigation against him.
She said the harassment began after she received a phone call from a man who claimed to have been sexually abused by Orkopoulos since he was 15. After that, it was said that locks on the office were changed to prevent her from accessing files for police. Sneddon became depressed and anxious as a consequence.
Orkopoulos is currently serving a nine year jail sentence after he was found guilty of 30 child sex and drug offences.
