Australia’s Casey Stoner is at the top of the MotoGP points standings after winning in heavy rain at the British Grand Prix.

His main rival Jorge Lorenzo slid off on lap 10 and left Stoner with no opposition on the rain swept Brands Hatch circuit. Stoner cruised home 15 seconds ahead of Andrea Dovisioso, riding in place of the injured Dani Pedrosa, which completed a 1-2 for Honda.

Colin Edwards, who sustained a broken collarbone in the Catalunya Grand Prix two weeks ago, rode a brave race to claim third place despite a late challenge from Ducati’s Nicky Hayden.
