The Greek Orthodox Community of South Australia announced a two-day religious ceremony to commemorate Saint Irene Chrysovalanti on 27 and 28 July.

Irene Chrysovalanti was a woman of enthusiasm and was respected for her divinity and peaceful, affable nature. This religious festivity is open to parishioners and the general public and will begin with the Blessing of Bread ceremony at 6.30 pm on Wednesday 27 July. Following the Great Evening Vesper there will be a two hour morning service at 8.30 am on Thursday 28 July.

After the morning service the Great Divine Liturgy will begin and the two day celebration will end with the procession of the holy icon of Irene Chrysovalanti inside St Nicholas’ Church. Everyone is then welcome to enjoy a lovely lunch, provided by the ladies of the church’s Women’s Fellowship, at the community hall next door. All are welcome in what promises to be a harmonious celebration.
