SBS stalwart Alexandros Katharios has announced his retirement from the media organisation. Katharios leaves SBS after 36 years in the role of executive producer of the Greek language program.

“Reaching the age of 70, I think it’s time to retire and live a peaceful life. Join my family, my grandchildren and have a good time,” Katharios told Neos Kosmos.

In his time at SBS, Katharios saw many changes, interviewed prime ministers of both Greece and Australia and a plethora of distinguished guests and Greek artists. He directed and managed the information and entertainment content and programs of the Greek community. In his time Katharios established and maintained successful relations between SBS and the Greek community.
