The story of the legendary relationship of American-born Greek soprano Maria Callas and Greek shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis will finally be brought to life on the big screen.
Cuban-American actress Eva Mendes will play the part of Callas, and the film will cover in full detail the tumultuous relationship. It will explore in great depth the significance and scandalous love affair between the two. Author Nicholas Gage sees both Callas and Onassis as two kindred spirits who found a genuinely romantic partnership until Onassis betrayed Callas by marrying the widowed Jackie Kennedy in 1968.
The film is based on the book, Greek Fire by Gage, a Greek author from Epirus, and the script has been developed by Jullian Fellowes.
