Sandy Freeman has returned from the Special Olympics in Athens a winner.

She came back from Greece with a silver and bronze glow and her achievements have been recognised all throughout Australia. Freeman, the youngest Special Olympian at the age of 15, came home with two silvers and two bronze and beat her personal best times in all her events. She has been invited to be the guest of honour at the Greek Consulate in Sydney for a special welcome-home celebration in September.

Her achievements have also been acknowledged on a national scale earning her a nomination in the 2011 Rouse Hill Times Junior Sport Star awards.
