The Greek Orthodox Youth Australia (GOYA) Brisbane will be hosting an Ekka Eve party for the Greek youth next Tuesday 16 August.

Kos Kastrissios, committee member, GOYA told Neos Kosmos that it’s important to keep the culture alive through these events and at the same time, give back to the community.

“All money raised goes to GOYA, so it gets donated back to the community. The money that we raise we donate back to the church, our nursing home, a sporting complex, our welfare centre – whichever group within the community needs it we will give it. And we like to promote modern Greek music to the young kids of today. In Brisbane, there’s not many places you can go to hear the latest in Greek so at our nights we play around 80 per cent Greek music,” he said.

GOYA is always open to new members and people to get involved. If you are interested, contact the Greek Community of Saint George in Brisbane or subscribe to their newsletter.

Ekka Eve party is on Tuesday 16 August at the Embassy Hotel. Entry is $10.
