Cas and Jonesy are ready to go; next Friday is the last opportunity for friends and lovers of dangerous expeditions to wish good luck to James Castrission and Justin Jonesy who in mid November will attempt the unprecedented.
They are on a mission to ‘cross the ice’ in the coldest place on earth, the Antarctic. A farewell party for the boys will go on in their home town of Sydney. The event will take place at the Aurora Bar and Lounge where the boys will gather with family and friends to share a beer to say goodbye. The trip will consist of the boys travelling 2200km on foot for 3 months.
The expedition starts on November 2011 and they are hoping they will be back safe and sound in Jan 2012. Cas and Jonesy (know by their nicknames generally) have taken many expeditions. They ‘crossed the ditch’ which saw them kayaking 3318km across the Tasman Sea overcoming extreme weather conditions, lack of food and sleep deprivation.
This expedition was the first of its kind and was the longest Trans oceanic kayaking expedition undertaken by two expeditioners. Cas and Jonesy say this is a childhood dream for them and that by attempting this expedition they wish to inspire others to follow their own adventures. The ‘cross the ice’ expedition will help raise money for the ‘YouCan’ national fund-raising campaign, to build specialised youth cancer centres in Australia.
The event will take place on Friday 30 September at 6:30pm at Aurora Bar and Lounge, the cover charge is a donation to the ‘YouCan’ fundraiser. All the money raised at the farewell will go towards the ‘YouCan’ national fundraising campaign. Donations can also be made on www.casandjonesy.com.au.
