Greece’s chief financial prosecutor Grigoris Peponis has brought a string of criminal charges against 29 people including navy officers and former Defence Ministry officials in connection to an order by the Greek Government for German submarines a decade ago.
The suspects, who were not identified, face charges of bribery, embezzlement, breach of duty and money laundering regarding the order from German shipbuilding consortium HDW-Ferrostaal. Former Defence Minister Akis Tsochatzopoulos has also been implicated in the affair.
