This will be the first NSW Premier League Grand Final appearance for the ‘Blues’ since joining the competition in 2004. The ‘Blues’ secured a position in the 2011 Grand Final after defeating Sydney United, 2 -0 at Belmore Sports Ground on Sunday 18th September 2011 in week 2 of the NSW Premier League Major/Minor Semi Finals.
This will be the fourth encounter between the two clubs this year, with Olympic possessing an upper hand on the visitors, Sydney United, having won 2 out of the 3 clashes that have been played this season. However, this will not be an easy clash for the ‘Blues’ as Sydney United will be expected to come out firing and seek retribution against the home side. Ones to watch for the visitors, Sydney United are the 2011 NSWPL Golden Boot, Luka Glavas and experienced midfielder and former A-League player Ufuk Talay who provides the Reds with a wealth of experience. Sydney Olympic will need their key players Chris Triantis and Alex Smith to be firing, as both are dangerous in attack for the ‘Blues’ and have created a great partnership with forward Robbie Mileski. Olympics’ defence must also remain impenetrable in the Grand Final fixture in order to hinder the goal scoring efforts of the visitors.
The Grand Final will be held at Belmore Sports Ground, with kick off scheduled at 3 pm.
