Rodney Eade, coach of the International Rules AFL team, has named Melbourne captain Brad Green as the captain of the AFL International Rules team who will play a two game series against Ireland this weekend and the next.

Played with Gaelic football’s traditional round-ball, the first test kicked off at Etihad Stadium in Melbourne last night and will be followed by the second and final game scheduled for the Gold Coast next weekend.

Australia is currently the defending champion of the series following a clean sweep of in last year’s series on Irish soil.

However, it is not all plain sailing for the Australians as Demon’s player Colin Sylvia was dismissed from the interantional team after being involved in a car accident early last Sunday morning, where he allegedly left the scene.
