What do you call a tablet that’s been designed for durability and ruggedness? The Toughpad of course!

Panasonic plan to launch two new tablets which meet tough US military 810G specs. Touted as “professional-grade” products, the A1 will come with a 10 inch display and the B1 with a 7-inch display. Both products have been designed to resist shock, dust, water, and even temperature. Running Android 3.2, the A1 will ship with a Marvell dual-core 1.2GHz processor, 16GB storage, 1GB RAM, outdoor-viewable 1024×768 display, front and rear camera, and HDMI support. A choice of either LTE (i.e. 4G) or WiMax connectivity completes the offering. Panasonic have also thrown in hardware-level encryption, high-grade VPN security, two-piece authentication, and remote-wipe or lock down capabilities via additional security features; Everything you expect with a product that meets FIPS 140-2 USA federal government standards. Priced at around $1,300, the products are expected to begin shipping from early 2012.
