Olympiakos defeated French club Nancy 91-78 on Wednesday in their Euroleague Group A match, a much needed victory that keeps the Pireaus club in the running for a spot in the Top 16 of the competition.

Playing at the Peace and Friendship Stadium, the host led throughout the game, but the French team gave them a scare in the second period when it reduced the Olympiakos advantage to just four points (40-36 at half-time). However a determined Olympiakos side rallied in the third period, opening up a 15-point cushion (67-52).

Greek international Vassilis Spanoulis was once again the star for the home team, leading the Reds to victory, scoring 26 points and distributing six assists, though he had some crucial support from Michalis Pelekanos (11 points) and Andreas Glyniadakis (10 points). This was Olympiakos’ second win in five games in the group stage.
