Jenny Bloomfield, Australia’s Ambassador to Greece recognised the achievements of four high school students from Crete who excelled in their schooling for the year. The recognition came as part of the annual celebrations for the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Crete as Australian veterans presented the awards to the students at the Saroglio Megaro in Athens.
People present at the function, ex Prime Minister and honoury President of New Democracy party Konstantinos Mitsotakis, Vice-Minister of Defence Aris Spiliopoulos and the Ambassador of Greece to Australia, Alexis Christopoulos.
Those attending the event after the presentation of the awards had the opportunity to see rare photographs from the Battle of Crete and from the Australian War memorial
