Kimi Raikkonen the ‘Iceman’ has confirmed his signing with Lotus Renault and said he will return to Formula One next season fully motivated, but also suggested he may have a few issues in re-adjusting after a two year absence from the sport. By his own admission he has never even sat in a Formula 1 car since the last race in 2009 but overall, the experience he said would be interesting and exciting.

Raikkonen a former Sauber, Ferrari and McLaren driver has spent the past two years competing in the world rally championship with Citroen and also driving NASCAR’s in the United States. Germany’s two-time current world champion Sebastian Vettel said it was difficult to predict what sort of impact Raikkonen would have on the Formula next year. Raikkonen believes he has two options, Lotus or Williams. He started training a month ago, increasing neck muscle strength, to be fit for the rigours of Formula 1.

Since Raikkonen last drove in the world’s top formula, the category has made changes to tyre technology, downforce control through the movable rear wing (DRS) , and the kinetic energy (KERS) booster. How the ‘Iceman’ deals with the current technology will determine his overall success for 2012.
