Hellenic festivals in Victoria were the big winners in the Unity Through Partnership grants announced on Tuesday.
The Antipodes Festival Glendi secured $100,000 for its 2012 festival and the Hellenic Cultural Council secured $30,000 for the Enosis festival.
A total of 18 grants were announced by the Minister for Multicultural Affairs and Citizenship, amounting to $550,000 for Victorian community organisations, an addition to the already $450,00 worth of grants already announced.
“The vibrancy and dynamism of Victoria is best seen through the myriad of multicultural festivals and cultural events which weave the multicultural tapestry of this great state,” said Mr Kotsiras.
“The value of sharing culture through music, dance and food builds greater cohesion and fosters understanding and unity.”
