The Christmas Food Appeal, an initiative by the Melbourne and Victorian Archdiocese, has fed over 300 underprivileged families this Christmas.

The appeal, which started mid-November and finished yesterday, distributed food to 85 different suburbs in Melbourne. Over 50 volunteers of all ages helped with the packaging and distribution of the food.

Most of the food was delivered to the elderly and also single mothers. The donations exceeded their expectations this year but the archdiocese is calling on their parishioners to donate even more in 2012.
The Christmas Food Appeal has been running for over 11 years.
