The retirement age in Greece will be extended meaning Greeks wanting to retire from next year will have to work between six months to three years, due to provisions of a pension reform law passed in 2010.
As of January 1, civil servants and private sector workers will have to complete 37 years of full employment – an extra year than they do now) and be no younger than 59 (as opposed to the current age of 58) to qualify for a full pension.
Those working in professions officially classified as unhealthy and hazardous will have to complete 10,500 working days and be at least 56.5 years old (rather than 54.5) to claim a full pension.
