NSW Minister for the Arts George Souris today announced $110,000 in funding to aid young people in the state to stage drug and alcohol free music events.

Indent, a youth network for contemporary music, will distribute the funds through Partnership Grants, which will fund all ages’ festivals, music video competition, band nights and competitions.

“The Indent project is a key skills development opportunity for any young person interested in finding out more about the music and entertainment industries.” Mr Souris said. “From the grants, the tour and the many workshops on offer, Indent empowers young people by giving them the skills and confidence to take control of their local youth events.”

In addition to the 2012 grants, Indent will provide further assistance to young people wanting to find out more about the all ages industry through the launch of “X Festival: A Do – It – Yourself Guide To Running Music Events”, the annual Open Day mini-conference on March 9 and the continued annual workshop program.
